Please feel free to contact us with your questions about Coop’s Event Barn. We’re always happy to answer questions about our event venue. Here are some of the questions that we are commonly asked.

Can a wedding party get ready at the venue?

Yes, we have two preparation areas.  The granary is a nice quaint area that can be used for preparation or converted to a lounge later in day. It is outfitted with air conditioning, charming wood burning stove and curtained windows for privacy.  We have recently added a new building with a dedicated preparation room. This includes its own private restroom and vanity. It is a rustically decorated and furnished room and comes with AC/heat, and has a large farm sink with a large mirror, and has plenty of lighting, electrical outlets, and space to spread out and enjoy your time.

How many guests can your venue accommodate?

Our barn can accommodate up to 350 guests between its lower level and loft.

Is there a dance floor?

There is no dedicated dance floor but many dances take place in the loft, outside under the lights under the deck, inside on the main barn floor, or in the south pasture under the stars!  We do rent flooring that can be used for a dance floor in the grass or be used for food service area if needed.

Are there separate areas for the ceremony and reception?

The ceremony can be held outside in various locations of the couple’s choice or in the barn’s lower level or loft. The reception can be inside on the lower level or loft, outside on the lawn, or under a tent.  There are many options to suit your style and we will work with you to plan according to your desires.

What backdrops are available for my wedding portraits?

We are continually working to enhance our grounds.  Among the many features are a rustic privacy fence, prairie schooner wagon, native prairie grasses and flowers, pergolas with grapevines, beautiful outdoor deck with sweeping staircase, inside staircase, granary, pastures, farm fields, trees, and a cozy fire pit with a stone patio.   We encourage our guests and their photographers to explore the grounds for that perfect photo.

What is your season of operation?

We begin the wedding season the weekend before Memorial weekend and book through the month of October.  We typically only book one wedding per weekend, but we will do parties or corporate events mid-week.  Please contact us to discuss your event.

Do you have an on-site catering service?

We do not have on-site catering. Please feel free to choose your own caterer or ask us for a recommendation; we are happy to help.

Are alcoholic beverages permitted on your premises?

Yes as long as clients adhere to the Minnesota state laws pertaining to the sale and service of alcohol you may have it at your event.  You and/or your guests are not allowed to bring and serve your own alcohol at any time during your contracted event. This includes prep, decorating, rehearsal, and clean up time as well as the day of the event.  Please contact us for details and for a list of vendors.

Do you only host weddings? What about other events?

Coop’s provides an excellent space for all types of gatherings from weddings and anniversary celebrations to birthday parties, business and fundraising events. Please contact us for a tour and consultation for your special gathering.

Do you have permanent restrooms?

Yes – In 2015 we have added two rustically decorated restrooms in our new building. The women’s room has three toilets and the men’s has one toilet and two urinals. Each room has ample lighting and outlets and can be used for dressing and prepping for your event. Also – each room has a wheelchair accessible stall with ADA placed grab bars.

Are your facilities climate controlled?

The granary is air conditioned, has a ceiling fan and a wood burning stove. The wedding party preparation lounge in the new building is air conditioned and heated with two ceiling fans. The restrooms have ceiling fans, exhaust fans and windows for proper air flow. The barn has ceiling fans in the loft, doors and windows on the upper and lower floors can be opened to bring in fresh air and breezes. Pedestal fans are available to rent as are portable heaters for patio and for heaters for the lower portion of barn.

Do you allow rehearsal dinners?

We do not allow rehearsal dinners to take place at Coop’s on Friday evenings. We certainly allow and encourage the wedding rehearsals to take place on Friday and can offer some suggestions on what and where past couples have had their rehearsal dinners. Also, during the day while setting up, you are welcome to bring in already prepared food for your setup staff.

Do you allow RVs and camping?

We are NOT allowed to have guests camp at our location. Guests bringing in RVs should find an alternate place to park and be shuttled to and from your Coop’s.
