We have busy behind the scenes at Coop’s Event Barn getting our property and space ready for the 2014 season.  Starting with the weekend of May 16-18 and running through the first weekend in October, we have several weddings booked.  There are still have some dates open, so contact us if you or someone you know is interested in hosting a celebration here next summer.

What country celebration would be complete without an outdoor space to gather around a warm fire?  Once again, we tapped into the creative expertise of Marvin Gardens and we are thrilled with the outcome.  Keith and Marvin rescued small rocks from nearby farm rock piles (with permission) and repurposed them for a cobblestone patio.  Additional larger rocks, many that were piled up in our woods, have been formed into a great berm which forms the backside of a fire hearth.  The project will be completed in the spring as we plant grass and complete more landscaping.  We have couples already planning to make S ’mores with their guests.

Another fun project Keith has been busy planning and executing is the addition of a 16 by 12 foot deck off the south side of the upstairs barn loft.  Greg Schley (friend and carpenter extraordinaire) has helped Keith calculate and order the necessary materials and they’ll begin construction soon.  This spacious, outdoor deck with a six foot wide staircase gives us a second access point to the haymow and will also expand the space upstairs.  We are adding a nice wide door with windows that will let in more light.  The ground space under the deck can be used for a dance floor or additional outdoor seating under the deck.  While it started as a safety feature as another way to enter and exit the loft, you can see it has become much more.  This will be a great space for a wedding party photo!!
