Emily and Tom are the first wedding of the 2015 season at Coop’s Event Barn.  As I write this, they and their wedding party are holding their rehearsal.  The weather is about as beautiful as you can ask for from a Minnesota spring day.  To say that the barn is decorated beautifully would be an understatement.  It is stunning!.  Then there’s the cute chalkboard signs with messages of the unique culinary treats their guests are in for. Emily and Tom, their family and friends have undoubtedly spent countless hours of planning and putting their own person touches on their day, to make this their own.  While I would love to sneak some photos into the post, I know that this is theirs to share when they are ready!  Emily and Tom, you are surrounded by great energy and love and we wish you all the best in your new life together.  Congrats for what we know will be a beautiful celebration as you join your lives together as husband and wife.

This is the story of Tom’s proposal to Emily is on their wedding website,   Suffice it to say, she had to work for this….and no doubt it will be every bit worth it.

Here’s the story of how Emily and Tom met:
We both went to St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Looking back, we’ve realized that even though it’s not a big school, we somehow never crossed paths until our junior year. We both discovered rock climbing during our sophomore year and ended up working together at the St. Olaf rock wall the following year. We didn’t interact a whole lot that year, but we did work a shift together. During that shift, Tom learned that I was from Rochester, MN. He told me he was hoping to go to Mayo for Physical Therapy school. He asked if I had any connections at Mayo, and if there was any way I could help him get in (this was mostly a joke). At this point he told me we had to be best friends, so that my connections could become his connections. We didn’t really talk much during the summer, but senior year we hung out a lot. We had a class together and worked a couple of shifts together. Over many climbing sessions and countless banana chocolate chip vegan cookies, we eventually started dating.
